Great to see you @ Jin the other night and much thx for the cocktail. I just checked out Erik Rico and he’s the bomb for sure. But, the song that you played was a female artist not a male artist. All I remember from the track was….”free yourself” her voice was very similar to N’Dambi. You might have played on 4/11. Please repost playlist whenever you can. See you soon.

Hey DJ Yzo,
Has Maiysha come across your radar yet? She’s a new artist whose music is an urban melting pot, combining the smoothness of a ‘90s R&B, jazz, funk and soul. Her album comes out August 26th. You’ve written about Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Anthony Hamilton in the past and I would put Maiysha in the same world musically, so I thought you would be interested in hearing her music.
I have an mp3 of her first single that I would like to send you. If you’re interested in receiving this song and other information about Maiysha, please send me your email address and I would be happy to share it.
Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

YOU ARE OFF THE HOOK!!!!
Hey Industry Soul,
So, I was just stumbling around Google and came across your blog, Industry Soul. Kudos on the great work you have done in keeping readers up to date on the “goings-on” in the world of soul music. Thanks for all the Q-Tip posts, can’t get enough of him.
Clearly Industry Soul is into all forms of soul music, including RnB and I really dig the artists you post! With that said I’m hoping you’re open to receiving music for consideration. We here at Ariel Publicity do digital publicity for independent musicians, and we focus on blogs and podcasts, so I’d love to send some music your way.
We have over 80 bands (all podsafe and precleared for mp3 downloads), but off the top of my head, I noticed you included Erykah Badu, Robin Thicke and many other signed and unsigned artists in your blog. In that case, you might dig one of our new artists Rhoda. Her style is a mix of R&B, soul with a little pop. You can check out her VPK below and get an idea of how we do things.
View Rhoda’s profile here:

In addition to hooking you up with some free downloads from independent artists such as Rhoda, we’ve created a profile for you in our system. You can log in here:

If you are NOT satisfied with the profile, we can delete it at any time- simply

Please contact me if you place any of the following information on your site, or to
request an interview. Thank you for your time!

LEGENDARY SOUL SINGER LINDA JONES EARNS GRAMMY® NOMINATION POSTHUMOUSLY, ALONG WITH DAUGHTER TERRY JONES AND COLLABORATOR HELEN BRUNER WHO BOTH SING ON, CO-WRITE, AND PRODUCE CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED ALBUM “SOUL TALKIN’”
December 14th Proclaimed Linda Jones Day in Hometown of Newark, NJ
During a live televised program on CBS, GRAMMY® Nominations for the 51st Annual GRAMMY® Awards were announced and Philadelphia-based Phil’erzy Productions basks in an emotional triple threat: The Empress of Soul Linda Jones, her daughter Terry Jones, and singing/business partner Helen Bruner all earned a GRAMMY nomination for a song that all three sang and that T. Jones and Bruner co-wrote, produced and distributed on their own independent label Phil’erzy. “Baby I Know,” a song off this year’s critically acclaimed Linda Jones CD “Soul Talkin’” is nominated for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance. The City of Newark, New Jersey, Jones’ hometown, will honor her contribution to R&B/Soul music with a proclamation declaring Linda’s birthday, December 14, Linda Jones Day. On that day an intimate gathering will take place in Newark with local government officials, family, friends and R&B legends of the 60s and 70s all coming together to celebrate Linda’s legacy.
Music industry trades and national publications including Billboard Magazine, USA Today, and Urban Network are all talkin’ about soul-talkin’ and soul singin’ Linda Jones”: Billboard Magazine: “One of the more distinctive voices in R&B/Soul history is Linda Jones…(and) Jones…is back, thanks to ‘Soul Talkin’…both (Terry) Jones and Bruner are featured on the noteworthy track “Baby I Know.” USA Today: the track titled “Things I’ve Been Through ’08″ is a “revamped version of the titanic ’70s vocal performance from the greatest soul singer…” Urban Network: “This writer believes “Soul Talkin’” is chock full of undeniable songs like the powerhouse “Can I Dig It,” and the sass of “Linda’s 2 Minute Slow Jam.” Part of Linda’s musical charm was her penchant for soul-talking; an engaging conversation that takes place during interludes or breaks on her recordings, pre-dating today’s prevalent rap style cadence.”
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Linda Jones entered the charts for the first time in 1967 with the classic R&B ballad “Hypnotized” which in 1967 topped the Billboard Black Music Charts at No. 4. She recorded many chart-topping hits after that until March 14, 1972, when Linda’s career was cut short. She died of complications from chronic diabetes at the young age of 27, leaving two daughters behind, Terry and Robin.
Jones, Jones & Bruner Grammy Nom
Page 2/2
“This is my Mother’s first Grammy nomination and it has been a long time coming for a singer/songwriter whose artistry was as prolific as the myths that have swirled around her art and her death, until now,” said Terry Jones. “ I am very proud that she is as relevant today as she was before her untimely death, and I’m so amazed that we can share this honor together.”
“I’m so proud of this Grammy nomination, especially for Mom Linda,” said Helen Bruner. “This is a great day for Terry and me as artists, songwriters, producers, label owners, and intimate fans of this legendary woman.”
Vocalists, songwriters, producers and label owners, Helen Bruner and Terry Jones have had No. 1 songs on the Billboard Dance charts, been featured on television and on soundtracks, as well as the blockbuster film The Score starring Robert DeNiro. The duo’s vocal talents also can be heard on national commercials and numerous recording projects. For additional information visit http://www.philerzy.com.
Hey,
Where are the clubs that play house music – especially deep house in DC? I’m from Chi-town and when I listen to Soul Conversations many times I feel as if I’m back home.
